Supplies

  • Small toy (less than 3” in diameter)

  • Small piece of plastic wrap

  • Soap mold or small plastic reusable snack   container, silicone muffin cup, plastic baby food container, plastic container from snack sized yogurt or applesauce etc…

  • Food coloring (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Wrap toy tightly in a small piece of plastic wrap. This prevents the toy from getting soggy or clogged by the soap.

  2. Pour glycerin (approximately ½ cup per bar of soap) into double boiler or microwave safe container and heat until melted, according to glycerin package instructions

  3. Add 1-2 drops of food coloring (if desired) and stir

  4. Pour glycerin into the mold until it is 1/3 full (or 1/3 the depth that you want your soap to be)

  5. Allow glycerin to set for 5-10 minutes

  6. Place toy on partially set glycerin

  7. Pour remaining glycerin on top of toy until it is fully covered

  8. Wait 30-40 minutes for glycerin to set

  9. Once fully set, pop soap out of mold.  You are ready to wash!

Toy ideas: Try matchbox cars, mini plastic dinosaurs or farm animals, rubber bouncy balls, marbles, whistles, lego people, rings, erasers, key chains… choose any small toy that will be of interest to your child.  Avoid toys that will be ruined if they get too damp.
